HAREBELL
The Harebell
is an beginners to advanced metal thread technique, that can be
worked in either gold 2%, gilt, silver or
copper metal threads.
The
instructions are detailed and concise, written with the beginner in
mind and intended to guide embroiderers of any level through the
embroidery from beginning to end. The fabric and felt padding comes
with the design hand drawn on so there are no worries about
transferring the design.
Working the embroidery:
The flowers, buds and leaves are padded with felt. Over the top of
the felt a variety of different metal threads are sewn down. In some
areas blue embroidery floss will be used to couch down the gold, in
others yellow sewing thread is used. The embroidery is worked on a
cotton velveteen background in a choice of dark green, dark blue or
black. Velveteen fabric is used as it has a deep pile which is good
for giving the edges of the goldwork a neat finished look. The
original embroidery was worked on a dark green velveteen fabric.
