In the twelve
years since I first
started doing embroidery professionally I
have found a real love in embroidering animals, my aim is to
capture the character
of the animal and to make it look life
like.
Often people have remarked to me that the finished embroidery
looks better than the photo and more lifelike than a
painting. There is always a great desire among
observers to touch the
embroidery and feel the fur as it looks so
real and the owners of the pet always are so pleased with the results
they often say that is their pet sitting on the fabric, a great way
to preserve the memory of the pet.
If
you would like a portrait of your pet, animal or flower simply mail
me or email me with several pictures of the desired image and I can
choose the best picture and give you a quote for the cost of the
embroidery. If you decide that you are not interested in an
embroidery I will return your pictures at no charge.
A
portrait begins at $650 Canadian dollars for a 4 inch by 4 inch embroidery.
$950
Canadian dollars for a 5 inch by 5 inch embroidery.
$1260
Canadian dollars for a 6 inch by 6 inch embroidery.
$1568
Canadian dollars for a 7 inch by 7 inch embroidery.
Animal
Portraits:
My animal portraits are worked in a single strand of
DMC floss in the needle at one time, typically a range of
10 - 16 different coloured threads are used in the whole
embroidery. The portrait is worked in long and short
stitches, thousands of stitches are worked in the same direction and
colour as the fur of the animal that I am working.
The stitches catch the light giving the animals fur a
glossy look as in nature.
Bird

colour as the feathers of the bird that I am working.
