FLOWERS, BUTTERFLIES AND CANADIAN FLAG

The flowers, butterflies and Canada flag are for any levels of stitchers. The easiest of the designs is the black and red butterfly 3 and the hardest of the designs is the Canada Flag.

Working the embroidery: The Shadow Work stitch is a simple backstitch worked on the front of the work alternating back and forth along two lines that are parallel to each other (bands), on the back of the work herringbone is created by the stitches crossing from one edge of the band to the other. The herringbone shows through the fabric at the front of the work as an opaque band. The ends of the threads are easily finished off in the stitches at the back of the work so that they do not show up obviously in the embroidery. Each design can be displayed in a card window mat or in a clear perspex frame or in a clear perspex key ring (please see the pictures on the left and below). Each of these frames can be purchased separately below and mounting instructions are included in the booklet.

The instructions includes diagrams for working the herringbone stitch and finishing ends and an enlarged picture of the back of the embroidery so you can see how the herringbone stitch lays. I also explain how to mount the embroidery can be mounted so that the embroidery can be displayed from both sides.

I am offering free email correspondence and free on going critique for this kit, for more details go to - Free on going critique.

SHADOW APPLIQUE

Shadow applique gives the impression of being a hard embroidery technique to work as the front and the back of the work both have to be neat. It is a popular misconception that you have to be an expert to work this technique, but this is not the case!  A simple stitch is used to sew the different coloured fabrics onto the organza fabric, the excess fabric is cut away to leave the fish shapes.

The clear instructions will guide you through this simple yet awe inspiring technique and is within any embroiderer's capabilities.

The embroidery is to be displayed so that both sides can be seen and can be hung like a collage.
