The satin stitch is a good angle and the stitches are close together.
Please can you work the stitches onto the design line (I have drawn a blue line on your picture to show you where) otherwise the area will get quite narrow and be a little bit more even with the placement off the stitches along the edges of the section so it looks smoother.
You do not have to take out the stitches as the French knots along the edge will smoothen up the edge. You can continue with the satin stitch.
