Berlin Embroidery Designs – Tanja Berlin
Hi Catherine
Row 2 looks excellent! Your two rows are so well blended that I couldn’t tell where one row ends and one row begins which is what we want. Try to keep the stitches just slightly close together because some of the long stitches were more than a stitch with apart, you can add a few stitches just to make the row a bit more dense.
Please do not be worried about the position of the long and short stitches. You do not have to split a long stitch into a long stitch in the previous row or a short stitch into a short stitch in the previous row as this is far too complicated and unnecessary. The reason we work long and short stitch on the left hand side of the row is when the next row is worked over the top you do not get a ridge underneath the stitches like you would if the left side of the row was worked in satin stitch.
When you work on row 3 do not be concerned about which is a long stitch and which is a short stitch in the previous row, just work your long and short stitch on row 3 regardless of what stitches you are splitting in the previous row.
Please work a small portion of the next row and then post a picture so I can check that the stitches are the correct length.
