I would say that is the designers/artist preference. I find when you start adding lots and lots of colors it is more of an artistic interpretation of the subject and doesn’t always look as realistic. I personally use as many colors as is required to create the artistic interpretation, some of my designs have few colors and some have many colors, but not as many as 75 🙂 the most I have it had in a design is 27.
