Hi Jill

I’m glad to hear that you are getting an understanding of the technique that is great, it does take a while to get a full understanding so it’s good that you’re having a breakthrough.

On the 415 triangle section you should split the stitches that are already there and take the stitches down into row 3. You might want to re-stitch this area to get a nicer tapered look, the stitch on the right side of the section was a bit short.

I have drawn onto your picture the length of the stitches, the blue arrow points to where the stitch should be a bit longer compared to your stitch.

Also watch that you do not hug the split stitch line when you take the stitches over split stitch line, your stitches are so close to the split stitch line that it makes a ridge and the edge of the body doesn’t look soft and natural. Also the shape the body has also been slightly distorted, probably because you were concentrating on getting the stitches really close to the split stitch line which pulled on the split stitch line and changed its position.

The pink line shows you the area where you were too close to split stitch line the blue arrow shows you where you are a little bit out from it and the stitches look softer here. You can also stagger the stitches slightly on the outside of the split stitch light so they are not exactly on the edge of the split stitch which will also make the edge look softer.
