Class Description:

The acorn woodpecker needle painting online class is suitable for all levels of stitchers and is written with the beginner in mind. Whether you are a complete beginner in the needle painting technique or want to improve your embroidery skills, this is the class for you.

Needle painting is a surface embroidery technique so there are no worries about having to count the threads of the fabric when working the stitches. The fabric comes with the design hand drawn on so you do not have to be concerned about transferring the design yourself and the threads come on numbered thread templates so you know exactly which colour to use on the embroidery. There are 17 DMC cotton thread colours used on the embroidery. In the kit I provide a detailed instruction booklet with 27 pages of step-by-step diagrams and instructions.

Four separate online class lessons are posted on the online class forum on the following dates:

    • Lesson 1: Friday 5th of February – Branch and Bird Feet
    • Lesson 2: Friday 19th of February – Body of the Bird
    • Lesson 3: Friday 5th of March – Head of the Bird
    • Lesson 4: Friday 19th of March – Beak, Eye and Branch
    • Class Ends: Friday 30th of April

Work the embroidery at your own pace, its okay to be working on lesson 1 when the other lessons have been posted.

The class lessons are in the form of PDF files that have step by step colour work-in-progress photos of the acorn woodpecker which I took as I stitched the embroidery so you can see close up the needle placement, length and positioning of the stitches and there is a forum to post pictures of you embroidery as you stitch it and to ask questions. You will receive personalized feedback from me specific to your embroidery to help you learn and improve your stitching technique.

My instructions and PDF file lessons are very detailed.

There are no zoom lessons or video demonstrations with the online class due to the time that it takes to produce the videos but for those who participate on my online class forums by posting pictures of their embroidery as they work it have found my feedback on their embroidery very valuable for improving their technique in embroidery. If you do not want to participate in the forum you will still find the PDF files with colour work-in-progress pictures very useful as well as reading the feedback that I give to the students who post pictures of their work.

Visit the galleries webpage to read reviews of my online classes by former online class students.
