Bohin Transfer Pencil
The Bohin transfer pencil is a mechanical pencil that comes with white and grey 0.9 mm lead. A mechanical pencil is the best type of pencil to use to draw design lines onto fabric as the lead keeps a consistent sharp nib. This pencil is perfect to use with the prick and pounce transfer method.

Needle Painting Red Fox Kit
The Red Fox is a Level 2: Intermediate of my Further Education kits in which you have the option of purchasing the 3 PDF files with colour work-in-progress pictures of the entire stitching process on my fox that I provide when I run my on-line classes.
The Red Fox is worked in needle painting also known as thread painting and long and short stitch. This is the most realistic form of surface embroidery which is worked in staggered straight stitches in a single strand of embroidery thread on a closely woven fabric, blending rows of colour to create a very realistic embroidery. The sheen of the threads adds to the soft and life like effect of the fur.
Please visit the Needle Painting Information page for more information on needle painting and rating of the designs from easy to hard.

Needles – Crewel Embroidery
Embroidery or crewel needles have a long eye for easier threading, a slender shaft and a sharp point to the needle so that the stitches can be worked close together and there is more control for the placement of the stitches.
The needles can be used for surface embroidery and sewing.
Crewel/embroidery needles are not suitable for counted thread work as the point of the needle would easily catch the threads of the fabric, distorting the counted work.
Size 10 are my choice needles for fine surface embroidery in which only one single strand of silk thread or embroidery cotton is used.
For very fine embroidery. when only using a single strand of fine thread or for sewing down No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10 gold purl threads use size 12 crewel embroidery.
