Hello all—my name is Carol George and I’m happy to be part of Tanja’s class. I grew up in Southern California where my mother taught me basic crochet and embroidery skills. During university studying French and Italian I enjoyed needlepoint and knitting, especially lace projects. My husband and I spent nearly 40 years near Rochester, New York where we loved visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake and Toronto. Upon my husband’s retirement we returned to California and now live on the Central Coast in Pebble Beach with our two cats and German Shepherd dog.
Decades ago in Paris I purchased a linen tablecloth and began embroidering again, although I completed only about a third of the embroidery before being distracted by other projects and tucking the tablecloth away. Somehow the pandemic and the memory of the bright flowers and crisp linen encouraged me to work on the tablecloth again, and I’m happy to say it’s finished! So now I’m looking forward to improving my basic skills and to learning needle painting with Tanja’s help.
