“Stitching Jacobean Bird was a pure pleasure. The instructions were so well written and the diagrams so clear, I was able to complete the piece without benefit of a classroom setting. The kit had a generous amount of thread, which gave me confidence that I could correct my errors without fear of running out.
I am a newbie at crewel work and am so happy I chose this kit for the beginning of another great stitching adventure! Thank you, Tanja for designing and producing such wonderful needlework kits for us!”

“This was my first attempt at Crewel Work, and my first time using crewel wool or linen twill. After many years of counted thread embroidery, I became bored and decided to rekindle my interest by trying some surface embroidery.”

“The kit from Berlin Embroidery is complete…excellent directions…quality materials, and more than enough to complete the project…the critique along the way was most helpful. It was a joy to work on, the design is so appealing, when finished and framed I thought, “Gosh, did I do that!”

“Finishing the Bird of Paradise has brought me so much satisfaction. This is a great design, as are all of Tanja’s. The instructions and Tanja’s teaching are wonderful. Even though I have done several pieces in various disciplines of embroidery, this piece brought together so many ideas. I conquered my fear of working with gold kid – it really wasn’t that hard.
When I pricked my finger in class and got blood on my piece, Tanja very calmly said, “You can just design some extra flowers to cover it.” I thought she was nuts; but after some consideration, you can see the extra flowers I added at the left. It worked beautifully.”

“Although I am not a beginner, this beautiful little piece of embroidery taught me several nice stitches I could easily practise thanks to the clearness of the instructions; the work is really enjoyable and you never feel bored thanks to the variety of materials, colours and stitches.
The result is reached quite fast and cannot be compared with any other embroidery work you can find on the market. Try it and have fun!”

“I am new to this type of needlework and found the design of the Bird of Paradise both challenging and inspiring. I enjoyed learning the 20 different stitches which make up the design and have been inspired to use some of these stitches on my other needlework projects.
Tanja is very patient when teaching each new stitch and often gave individual instruction for the more complicated stitches. The Bird of Paradise is framed and hangs proudly in our home. I am looking forward to doing more Tanja Berlin creations.”

“This lovely flower will provide you a few hours of pleasure thanks to the softness of the fabric and threads (pure silk of the best quality!), and useful training thanks to the large variety of stitches involved. For the first time, I found that it didn’t take enough time.”
Stitched by Christine Guillemain in France
“I love this floral and will be working more of Tanja’s designs in the near future. I plan on challenging myself and with Tanja’s help it will be fun. I have embroidered in the past but learned a couple new stitches. It was fun and rewarding. I asked Tanja once for help and she replied. And on a Sunday! !! Great design and great designer.”
