The lacy stitches are worked in Perle cotton on 18 count mono canvas. It is an easy technique, great for all level of stitchers and can be worked in the hand in your most comfy chair (no frame necessary). It is also a good project to take with you when you are traveling as it is easy to pick up and put down without losing your place and without having to deal with lots of different threads.
The Hapsburg lace patterns are worked from a chart and the instructions has lots of step-by-step diagrams and instructions on how to work each pattern. There is a different pattern for the back and the front of the needle case
There is a separate downloadable PDF file for the construction of the needle case that comes with the order.
You will need to provide the following materials to construct the needle case:
Thick felt measuring 3 5/8 inches by 10 inches for the felt pages for the needle case, the original needle case has 6 pieces.
Two pieces of ribbon 10 inches long by 1/2 inch wide or similar width.
Craft tacky glue.
The Hapsburg lace technique gets is name from a Lady from the Hapsburg dynasty who developed the style, selecting the most lacy canvas stitches to mimic real lace in the form of needlework.
