Chenille Needles have a large eye and a sharp point and are great for ribbon embroidery and as a plunging needle for goldwork embroidery. Chenille needles can also be used for heavy surface embroidery such as crewel and Mountmellick. In Goldwork embroidery the No. 18 Chenille needle is used to take the ends of gold threads such as check thread, Japan thread, passing thread, rococco and twists to the back of the work (plunging or sinking). The ends of these threads can be threaded into the eye of the needle and taken through to the back of the work.
