/ May162019Au ver A Soie is the manufacturer of fine silk thread and yarns in France since 1820.
I now have two weights of the Soie silk threads which are great for sewing down metal threads.
100/3 is a fine twisted non-divisble 3 ply spun silk and comes as a 50 meter spool suitable for sewing down heavier couched metal threads such as: T69 and T70 Japan Thread, No. 12 (K2) and No. 13 (K1) Japanese Threads, No. 13 Passing Threads, Milliary Wire, 36 x 6 Check Thread, Gimp Cord, Large and Medium Grecian Twist, Large Back, Plates, Medium Rococco.
The Surfine is finer and can be used to sew down: T71 and T72 Japan Threads, No. 8 (K24 and No. 9 (K3) Japanese Threads, Kreinik Japan Threads, Passing Threads, 16 x 3 Check Thread and 8 x 2 Check Thread, Flatworm, Lurex Thread, Fine and Very Fine Grecian Twist, Fine and Very Fine Rococco, Spangles.
Use Gutterman’s polyester sewing thread to sew down Bullions, Cords – Twists, Jaceron, Lizerine and Pearl Purl as the thread is stronger and less prone to damaging when sewing down these metal threads. You can also use the Gutterman’s polyester thread to sew down any of the metal threads shown on the website.
