There are 26 pages of detailed instructions with step-by-step numbered patterns to guide you through the embroidery and there is the option of getting the five PDF files with work-in-progress photos of each cat which are set up as lessons. Recommended Supplies
8 Inch Stretcher Bar Frame and Thumb Tacks
I recommend the stretcher bar frame to work my hand embroidery kit in because the frame is quick to assemble and the fabric stays taught in the frame. The frame comes with brass thumb tacks and a tack remover. The frame can be used over and over so if you purchase more than one of my kits you can use the same frame.
Please visit the following webpage for instructions on how to assemble a stretcher bar frame: Stretcher Bar Frames Information

Bohin Transfer Pencil
The Bohin transfer pencil is a mechanical pencil that comes with white and grey 0.9 mm lead. A mechanical pencil is the best type of pencil to use to draw design lines onto fabric as the lead keeps a consistent sharp nib. This pencil is perfect to use with the prick and pounce transfer method.

The Blackwork Study of Cats design is a Level 3: Advanced of my Further Education designs and is an excellent embroidery to work prior to the Blackwork Elephant as it uses the same patterns and shading method. The embroidery is worked in the tissue paper transfer method. This is an easier method than working the pattern directly from a set chart as there is more versatility where each pattern can be worked so is less complicated to work. There is not a full chart of the embroidery in the instructions.
The blackwork cats are an advanced design not intended to be worked on 14 or 16 count Aida, so you should be able to count on 28 count or 32 count fabric. A stitching light and magnification are an asset to work the embroidery.
