Stretcher Bar Frames
Stretcher bars are inexpensive wooden embroidery frames in which the fabric can be pulled really tight. The end of the bars have teeth that you slot together to form a frame at any size that you require for your needlework. I recommend the stretcher bar frames to work my hand embroidery kits in because they are very quick to assemble and the fabric stays taught in the frame.
I highly recommend purchasing the brass thumb tacks which are stronger and sharper than office supplies thumb tacks or quilters thumb tacks.

The ToolTron safety scissors with blunt ends are the perfect lace hand embroidery scissors and are highly recommended for needlework techniques that require precision cutting such as Carrickmacross Lace, Fine White Work, Hardanger and Drawn Thread.
The blunt ended scissors enables you to get close to the edge of the area to be cut without snipping the fabric with the point of the scissors by mistake.
The blades of the scissors are sharp for a clean cut and slightly curved to get a closer cut.

The three Iris’s are worked in hand applique in organza and silk fabrics on a silk ground fabric. Some of the petals and leaves are embellished with surface embroidery stitches.

This project is useful for learning how to work applique for pictures or for embellishing quilts.

Blackwork Fuchsia
The Blackwork Fuchsia design is an intermediate design in my blackwork art embroidery kits.
The fuchsia is a counted form of hand embroidery in which interesting blackwork patterns are worked on the flower. Dimension is achieved by changing the thickness of the embroidery thread and the density of the pattern, creating a realistic design. Gold thread is used to highlight areas of the design.
