Designed by the talented Wendy Innes of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Nature’s Jewel Stumpwork design is an intermediate level embroidery of a brilliant hummingbird having a feed of sweet nectar from delicate fuchsias.
The design is a combination of surface, raised, and detached elements of embroidery.
One of the wings, the tail feathers, numerous fuchsia petals, and the stamens are worked separately from the main design. They all have wire and will be added to the design after the surface and raised elements of the design are completed. The entire project is worked in stranded cottons with accents of rayon and metallic threads to add realism.
The design comes transferred on the ground fabric (hand drawn by Wendy) so you do not have to do this yourself and you will trace the detached elements of the stumpwork onto the separate fabric pieces.
The embroidery threads come on a numbered template so that it is easy to locate the thread you need.
Included with the kit is 13 pages of full colour instructions and patterns with detailed step by step pictures to guide you along the way. The instruction booklet is laid out in the same format that the design was originally released in Inspirations magazine.
The kit will be shipped from Wendy Innes to your home by tracked parcel mail to Canada and USA and airmail parcel internationally.

About Wendy:
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the 60’s, Wendy began her embroidery introduction from her mother at the young age of 7 or 8, who taught her basic embroidery stitches. Wendy was lucky to have inherited her father’s artistic gene that runs strong in his family. She does not have formal education in needlework, more like the school of “live, learn, experience”, with continued nurturing from her parents and the aid of many books. Wendy cannot remember a time in her life when she wasn’t pursuing all things threaded needle and creative endeavors.
Wendy has been fortunate to win many embroidery competitions, both locally and internationally. She owned and operated a needlework shop here in Calgary, Alberta for over a decade starting in the 90’s, that is where I first met Wendy. She taught many classes on all forms of embroidery, hosted stitching retreats, and shared her love of needlework. Wendy’s favorite form of needlework is stumpwork and she has taught classes in Australia, Canada and the US. Her designs have been published in Inspirations magazine out of Australia numerous times as well as in several of their books.
Wendy has always lead an active life, hiking, biking and an avid runner. After experiencing immense loss in her life she filled the void with 3 Siberian huskies that kept her going. Wendy is the grateful mother of one son and a grandmother of 2 wonderful grandsons.
