Crochet Cotton for Padding

<a href="https://berlinembroidery.com/product-category/hand-embroidery-supplies/goldwork-supplies/goldwork-sewing-and-padding-supplies/" rel="tag">Goldwork Sewing and Padding Supplies</a>
$1.82 USD

A soft cotton thread (Bernat crochet cotton) is used to pad narrow areas on goldwork designs such as leaves, stems and branches.

The crochet cotton should be waxed first with beeswax so that it is coated and stiff and can be sewn down single or in bundles of two, three or more strands, sewing down the strands with a single strand of polyester sewing thread.

Metal threads such as purls, bullions and Japan threads can be sewn over the crochet cotton padding raising the threads and giving the embroidery a dimensional effect.
