Goldwork and Beading Pad
Sorry I am not mailing the acid free bags to USA customers at this time unless you order one of my needlework kits, then I can put it in the needlework kit.
A goldwork and beading pad is a brilliant piece of Velux/velvet like fabric which you can use to place goldwork threads on and cut them and place spangles and beads on so they will stay in one place rather than skidding across a table surface when working with them.
Pad Size: 8Â inch by 10 inch

Needles – Size 10 or 12 Crewel Embroidery
The size 10 crewel embroidery needle is used in my surface embroidery kits such as: Carrickmacross Lace, Fine White Work, Goldwork, Modern Jacobean, Needle Painting and Shadow Work.
My kits come with two needles but you may want to purchase more of the needles as size 10 embroidery/crewel needles, in case you mislay your needle as the size 10 crewel embroidery needles can be hard to find in craft stores as they are smaller than regular sewing needles.
I also carry the size 12 crewel embroidery needles. I often use these for sewing down purl threads in goldwork or if I am working a very fine needle painting design.

The Metal Thread Pendant or Brooch is a beginners project. I am no longer selling the kit or supplies for this design but you may order a downloadable PDF File of the instructions and get the supplies else where.
The PDF file has 9 pages of step-by-step instructions with diagrams to make the pendant. There is a pattern for a brooch in the instructions.
The pendant or brooch is worked by sewing down strands of pearl purl which is a coiled metal thread, the stitches are hidden in the coils of the thread. In-between the lines of pearl purl are sections of gold soft metal beads worked in bright check purl.
The finished pendant or brooch can be painted with a clear non-yellowing varnish so it does not tarnish.
Size:
- Pendant Height: 2 inches (5 cm) high by 1 3/4 inches (4 1/2 cm) wide
- Brooch Height: 1 3/4 inches (4 1/2 cm) high by 1 3/4 inches (4 1/2 cm) wide
Materials Required (exact amounts, allow extra for mistakes):
-
- A Piece of Silk Organza Fabric 8 inch by 8 inch: The organza fabric is the foundation on which the pendant or brooch will be embroidered. Â Synthetic organza fabric can be used, but it does not glue into position as easily as silk fabric during the construction stage.
- A Piece of Black Felt 2 inch by 2 inch: The black felt is sewn down as the foundation for the pendant or brooch and then the metal threads are stitched over top.
- Leaf Green No. 2 Pearl Purl 17 inches: Outline Colour and Filling Lines
- Dark Purple No. 2 Pearl Purl 5 inches: Filling Lines
- Black No. 2 Pearl Purl 3 inches: Filling Lines
- Mid Brown No. 2 Pearl Purl 4 inches: Filling Lines
- Warm Gold No. 2 Pearl Purl 3 inches: Filling Lines
- Copper Bright Check Purl (any size) 9 inches: Filling Sections
- Silver Bright Check Purl (any size) 8 inches: Filling Sections
- Light Blue Polyester Sewing Thread 1 Yard: Used to transfer the design onto the felt.
- Black Polyester Sewing Thread 20 Yards: Used to sew down the felt and metal threads.

Tools
-
-
- Size 10 Crewel Embroidery Needles
- Hoop (Ring Frame): To hold fabric tight whilst stitching
- Sharp Embroidery Scissors: Cutting the metal will dull the scissors so use an inexpensive sharp pair of small embroidery scissors. You will require sharp blades to get a clean cut when cutting the metal threads.
- Goldwork or Beading Pad: A soft fabric surface on which to cut the purl threads on so they do not slide around on the tabletop.
- Mellor (Optional): For Pushing Metal Threads in Position (you can work the pendant without the Mellor)
- Beeswax (Optional): You can use the beeswax to coat the polyester sewing thread to help protect the sewing thread from the abrasive metal threads.
-
 Finishing Materials
-
- Pendant Bail and Necklace or Brooch Bar Pin: To make a pendant or brooch.
- A Piece of Black Felt 2 inch by 2 inch: The pendant or brooch is backed with a piece of black felt.
- Craft Glue: For constructing the project.
- Clear Non-Yellowing Varnish: To help protect the metal threads. If you are using real metal threads which are copper or silver based, these can tarnish when they are exposed to the acid in regular packaging and to exposure to sun over long periods of time. To help prevent the metal threads from tarnishing or the colour scratching off the coloured No. 2 Pearl Purls you can paint the finished project with a clear, non-yellowing varnish.

The Key To Punchy’s Heart Peyote Beading Stitch Pattern: PDF (Digital Download) of Punch The Monkey
The Key to Punchy’s Heart even count peyote beading design is created by Tanja in the good old-fashioned method of imagination and hand drawing in the Loomerly beading app (no Ai or digital generation was used).
Punch the Monkey – Macaque Monkey was born on July 6th 2025 and was abandoned by his mother and ostracized by his monkey tribe at the Ichikawa Zoo in Japan.
For emotional support he was given a stuffed monkey to cuddle, which he carried or dragged with him wherever he went.
Punch also liked to play with the zookeepers set of keys, creating a special bond with the zookeeper. I incorporated heart keys in the background of the design, to recognize that bond.
‘The Key to Punchy’s Heart’ is the love and acceptance of Punch, from those that are around him.
You will receive two PDF files with your purchase. One PDF File has a large beading chart of the design and a word chart as well as a list of colour beads used and amounts. The other PDF file has tips for working the beaded design with links to videos that I find useful for beading. This design is for experienced beaders and there are no instructions on how to work even count peyote stitch.
Beading Size: Approximately 5 inches (12 1/2 cm) wide by 5 inches (12 1/2 cm) high Depending on your stitch tension
Brand of Beads: Miyuki Delica Size 11/0, 16 Colours, 7104 Beads, 96 Columns, 148 Rows (Beads are NOT included with purchase of the PDF Chart and Tips)
