Poppy Purple Puffer is created by Tanja in the good old-fashioned method of imagination and hand drawing in the Loomerly beading app (no Ai or digital generation was used). There are at least 20 hours of design time by me in this design. The beading takes 15 – 20 hours to stitch.

The puffferfsh can be worked in even count peyote beading stitch or odd count peyote stitch, the choice is yours, you will receive a PDF file for each method which has the bead chart, word chart, colour of beads and amounts used.
The third PDF file has four pages of tips for working the beaded design with links to videos that I find useful for beading.
This design is for beaders who have some experience in even count peyote beading stitch but do not need to be advanced beaders.

To work this design you need to have some experience in the even count peyote beading stitch and how to start and finish the thread and follow a chart. There are no instructions for the method of working even count peyote stitch in the PDF files but I do provide links to video tutorials by other experienced beaders that I find useful for working flat peyote beading. You should practice first to get your tension even as uneven tension can result in a warped beaded picture.

The pufferfish design is worked in Miyuki Delica Beads Size 11/0.
There are 12 colours, 2760 beads, 60 columns of beads and 92 rows of beads (46 beads high) in the even count design.
There are 12 colours, 2174 beads, 59 columns of beads and 92 rows of beads (46 beads high) in the odd count design.

The beads were specifically chosen so that the beading looks different depending on how much light is shining through the beads. This is achieved by using a mixture of transparent beads, crystal beads and opaque beads. You may use your own choice of colours if you wish.
I used 8-pound crystal FireLine fishing line and a short beading needle to stitch the peyote beading but you can use what is comfortable for you.

The finished beading measures approximately 3.1 inches wide by 3.1 inches high (8 cm by 8 cm) depending on your sewing tension and is a perfect design for a coaster as it looks good from all angles. I purchased the 8 mm deep acrylic coasters for cross-stich from stitchtastic in the UK, they ship internationally.
The beading also fits nicely into a 5.5 inch by 5.5 inch (13. 3/4 cm by 13 3/4 cm) float display case which is used to display jewelry and other dimensional objects. You can find them on the internet by doing a search for Floating Frame or Floating Display Case or Floating Display Holder. There is a picture of a floating frame in the image gallery.

You can also use the beaded picture for the cover of a felt needle case to keep your beading needles in. I have a PDF instructions on how to make a felt needle case.

Well Being – can help with pain and anxiety as you mind is occupied as long as you don’t overdo the time you spend beading.
